E! Entertainment MISC. TV NEWS -> HBO - Parker's pregnancy derails ''Sex and the City.'' Shooting for the series' new season halts after Sarah Jessica Parker reveals she's pregnant. In a twist that could have come straight from a ''Sex and the City'' episode, Sarah Jessica Parker announced Friday that she's pregnant, leading HBO to halt production of her show's fourth season. Only about 50 percent of the first two episodes (shot simultaneously) were completed before filming was suspended, an HBO spokesperson tells EW.com.
Producers hope to resume production within a month, but have not yet decided how Parker's pregnancy will affect storylines, if at all, the spokesperson says. The new season had been scheduled for a June premiere; now it's tentatively set for July. Parker's publicist didn't return calls for comment on the pregnancy, which was revealed Friday by gossip columnist Liz Smith and then confirmed by HBO. Parker's baby will be her and husband Matthew Broderick's first after five years of marriage.
-> Finally, after being married five years in May, Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are expecting their first child. Parker, 37, and Broderick, 40 are excited and anxiously awaiting parenthood. Parker, the star of HBO's Sex in the City isn't sure if the show will incorporate her pregnancy into the show with her characteur becoming pregnant also. Producers haven't decided so far, what to do either. Filming of the series has been suspended until a decision is made...
-> Linda Lavin, TV's Alice, has been signed on to join the cast of The Sporanos. When asked what role she will be playing, Lavin said she has been sworn to secrecy and can't say a word to the press or her own family.
-> SCI-FI - Oscar winner Susan Sarandon has joined the cast of Children of Dune, the Sci Fi Channel's six-hour follow-up to Frank Herbert's Dune, Variety reports. Sarandon will play ruthless princess Wensicia. The miniseries is slated to air in early 2003.
-> SHO - DUE EAST - Robert Forster, Kate Capshaw, Clara Bryant and Cybill Shepherd co-star in Due East, a Showtime original movie thatll premiere May 12 (at 8 p.m. ET/PT). The film, directed by Helen Shaver, is based on two books written by Valerie Sayers: "Due East" and "How I Got Him Back."
-> QUANTUM UPDATE: Universal is "exploring" the idea of a Quantum Leap TV reunion movie, a source confirms to TV Guide Online. Earlier this month, Quantum's creator, Donald P. Bellisario, confessed that the idea of taking another Leap with the show's star, Scott Bakula, has always been "in the back of my mind... but Universal, who truly owns the rights to it, has never shown an interest." Until now, that is!
-> VH-1 - "PMRC" Twisted Sisters Dee Snider plays himself in the VH1 original movie P.M.R.C. Its a satiric look at the mid-1980s war on "porn rock" led by Tipper Gore and the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) -- and featuring a bizarre cast of unlikely characters who get caught up in the battle on Capitol Hill. The film -- starring Jason Priestley and Mariel Hemingway -- premieres April 17 (at 9 p.m. ET/PT).
